Fibromyalgia
FMS causes pain and tenderness all over the body, along with headaches, fatigue, muscle stiffness, memory loss and difficulty sleeping. The causes of fibromyalgia remain unclear, but it is associated with abnormal brain chemistry and anomalies in the way the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves) process pain signals. Studies suggest that people with fibromyalgia who also smoke cigarettes tend to have more severe pain.
What is this condition?
FMS may be founded in physically or emotionally stressful events, and while anyone can develop fibromyalgia, it affects around seven times as many women as men. Those people with fibromyalgia who are more physically active, aerobically fit and/or physically strong tend to experience less pain.
