The things we're asked about the most...

Acupuncture is extremely safe when performed by a trained and licensed acupuncturist. The acupuncture needles used at Acuhealth are factory sterilised and sealed. During an acupuncture treatment, the needles are unpackaged as needed and used only once, after which they are disposed of correctly.

That will be determined by your constitution, and the type and severity of your condition. Your treatment plan is unique and individually designed at Acuhealth. Your practitioner will be able to give you a good idea about this after an initial consultation.

Research shows that acupuncture can affect most of the body’s systems – muscle tone, hormone outputs, circulation, antibody production and allergic responses, as well as the respiratory, digestive, urinary, nervous and reproductive systems.

In 2003 World Health Organization published a report of clinical trials researching the effectiveness of acupuncture. More than one hundred diseases, symptoms or conditions were identified for which acupuncture has been proved – through controlled trials—to be an effective treatment.

Please arrive a few minutes early for your first appointment, to complete some paperwork, also for subsequent sessions so that you can sit back relax before we begin.

Acupuncture needles a lot thinner than injection needles – not much thicker than a human hair. They are also extremely sharp; therefore, they enter the skin with little resistance. You’ll be seen in a private room, by a dedicated therapist…who won’t rush and won’t be running between rooms and seeing other patients. We’re there for you.

Your body will continue to experience the effects of needles for some time after they have they been removed so it is preferable to avoid any strenuous activity immediately after treatment. You should drink some additional water to avoid dehydration, and it’s also better not to consume any alcohol or recreational drugs.
